What is the definition of “prodigal?” Think of an answer before you go to Google or dictionary.com.
Because of its biblical reference, a while back I went to a number of people who you think would know the definition - pastors, elders, and people who have been in the church for decades. The common theme to their answer was something along the lines of:: "a wayward person who returns or repents from a destructive lifestyle." Is that close to your answer?
Add a commentDr. Brad Williams' book "A Man and His Word" is our book of the month for January and February. We would encourage each of you to get this book and read it as it has practical advice for men at any stage in their career.
We have been blessed by this book in the overwhelming number of truths that are shared that ring true for every situation.
Dr. Williams wrote this book early in his career as he reflected on how important his word is and how God's word speaks to our tongue. Our tongue is an incredibly powerful tool or weapon that we each possess. We need to use it wisely. Dr. Williams' challenges each of us in the book to:
- Listen and to hear God
- To be an encourager to our children and those around us
- To have integrity in all that we do as this gives meaning to life.
- To match our words and our actions.
- To only speak words of truth so that anyone can depend on your word.
- To admit when we are wrong and to have a humble and not prideful attitude in all things.
- Let our words be few and select only the right words.
- It is better to be encouraging than critical.
