Optometrist needed in Jamaica!

Professional Eye Care and Mission of Sight are progressive and mission minded practices with locations in Ohio and Jamaica. They are seeking a full time Optometrist to serve on their Jamaican team and partner in both the private practices (Professional Eye Care) and non-profit (Mission of Sight) in Jamaica. While this position offers a professional clinical setting, it also requires the Optometrist to demonstrate a heart of compassion and willingness to serve in a Christian faith-based organization to the people in need of therapeutic, surgical, and primary vision care in Jamaica.

Position Requirements:

Clinical Skills Experience

• Refraction-Disease Diagnosis, Treatment, and Management
• Resident trained preferred
• Post-operative surgical experience
• Flexible for in-office and mobile delivery of care

Management skills

• Hands-on interest and participation to develop sustainable global eye care
• Supporting staff in areas of customer service and ophthalmic training.
• Observing and contributing to successful day-to-day function of offices.
• Assistance with projects or assignments

Mission

• Coordination of Surgical and Primary care Missions
• Pre and Post-operative patient care
• Verbal and email Communication with Mission Doctors/Team – prior, during, and post trip
• Serve as host to the team, ensuring all needs are prepared for and met; utilizing support staff
• Attend cultural education and training to sensitize for Jamaica and missional challenges

Position Salary and Benefits:

• $80,000 Base Compensation package inclusive of Housing, Vehicle – 5 day work week
• $20,000+ Attainable bonus payments for patient care volume over the base salary minimums
• $15,000+ Qualify for MedSend monthly loan repayment for duration of service www.medsend.org
• Personal fundraising support option via Mission of Sight (501c3)
